IFAPA 2029, YET ANOTHER SUCCESS FOR ITALIAN EXHIBITION GROUP, set to host the international congress in Rimini in 2029.
Rimini, July 4, 2025 – Another successful international bid for Italian Exhibition Group, as it adds the International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity congress to its extensive future calendar.
This is the biennial event of IFAPA, scheduled from June 25 to 29, 2029. During the 2025 edition in Tralee, Ireland, it was announced that the event will be held at the Rimini Palacongressi in four years’ time. The next edition will be held in 2027 in Amman, Jordan.
The bid was spearheaded by the Department of Quality of Life Sciences at the UNIBO Campus in Rimini, with Professor Pasqualino Maietta Latessa leading the effort. Alongside him, Professor Maurizio Bertollo from the “G. d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara, who also serves as the President of the European Federation of Sport Psychology (FEPSAC), and Professor Aija Klavina, the former President of the European Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (EUFAPA) from the University of Riga, they prepared the bid dossier that convinced IFAPA of the strength of the proposal.
The bid team also benefited from the support of the SYMPOSIA GROUP agency in Rome, the PCO (Professional Congress Organiser) for the Rimini edition of the congress, which will handle the entire organisation of the 2029 event.
Adapted Physical Activity (APA) involves movement programmes aimed at improving well-being and addressing motor difficulties. It offers a non-medical approach, featuring group physical activity programmes designed for individuals with specific needs, such as those with mobility issues or chronic conditions.
The IFAPA congress, attended by over 400 participants including academics, researchers, and professionals with degrees in Motor Sciences, is another link that enriches the chain of international events dedicated to motor sciences. Following the ECSS (European College of Sport Science), the largest European congress in the field of sports sciences, scheduled from July 1 to 4, in 2027, the spotlight will shift to the ISBS – International Society of Biomechanics in Sports and the EASM – European Association for Sport Management.
IEG continues to strengthen Rimini’s position as a destination on the national and international scene, following the recent ICCA ranking that placed Italy at the top of Europe and Rimini among the top 20 Italian cities in the world rankings.
The Convention Bureau of the Rimini Riviera, in collaboration with local institutions, scholars, and stakeholders, has achieved a significant milestone which will be publicly celebrated on Sunday, November 30, with the award ceremony of the Rimini Mundi 2025 Prize honouring the local area’s new ‘ambassadors’.
