TaCo 2022

The Taboo Conference series (TaCo) is an interdisciplinary conference aimed at bringing together scholars of various aspects of taboo in a variety of academic fields. The project was originated at the Department of Interpretation and Translation of the University of Bologna, Italy, where the first edition was held in 2012. The following editions were held every two years in Durham (UK), Barcelona (Spain) and Bertinoro (Italy). For its fifth installment the conference will be held in Rome.

The Taboo 2022 Conference in Rome is divided in four main topics

Venue

University of Rome Tor Vergata was established in 1982 and rapidly rose to distinction, in Italy and Europe for its vibrant intellectual life and outstanding scientific productivity. “Tor Vergata” was created with the dual goal of providing high-quality education and first-rank research in the sciences and the humanities.

Located in the South-East Rome, between the Cinecittà area – the hub of the flourishing film industry of the 50’s and 60’s – and the surrounding hills (“I castelli romani”), the university combines a young but already solid tradition in the liberal arts and a massive investment in scientific, especially medical, research, with the “Policlinico ‘Tor Vergata’” being one of the most important university hospitals in Italy.

The Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia had distinguished itself both for historical and for literary studies, with research achievements that range from eighteenth-century history to French literature.

Many faculty members are outstanding figures of the Italian cultural and political world.
