8th International Conference NANOSEA NANO-structures and nanomaterials SElf-Assembly

This biannual meeting, started in 2006 in France by Isabelle Berbezier (IM2NP, CNRS-Marseille) and Maurizio De Crescenzi (University of Rome -Tor Vergata), has a tradition of being held alternatively in France and in Italy in attracting place on the Mediterranean Sea: why then gathering in Rome?

Well, Rome has so much benefitted from the large availability of potable water since its foundations – first taken from the river Tiber and later from lakes tens of kilometers aside – to be called “Regina Aquarum” (Queen of the Waters). The impressive Thermae of Caracalla are just one of the examples recalling the health and strength that water has brought to its inhabitants. We decided to take these roots as the Conference welcome leitmotiv, displaying on the Conference Website some views of Rome’s fountains, from its most popular Trevi fountain, to the Rivers and the Turtle ones, plus a view of Claudio’s aqueduct.

Following a consolidated tradition of opening to the most recent advancements in science in the field of nanostructures, the Conference will focus on research in the field of 1D, 2D and 3D nanomaterials and will encompass growth and characterization, modeling and applications. The Conference will cover the physics of structures at the nanoscale, from fundamentals to new fabrication techniques and large-scale patterning. Nanoscale structural, optical, electrical, and magnetic properties of self-assembled systems will be discussed. Finally, also new insights on future applications will be presented.

The goal of this conference is to bring together the broad, multidisciplinary community of scientists active in the field of nanomaterials and nanostructures, and the encourage discussion on present and perspective high-impact science and technology in the field.

Venue

“Sapienza” University was founded in 1303 by Pope Boniface VIII and is one of the oldest Universities in the world. It’s a top performer in international university rankings and its 115,000 students can choose from over 250 degree programs (Bachelor, Masters and PhDs) and 200 specialization courses.

The Sapienza University campus is the largest in Europe – a real city within a city – and it will be especially enjoyable in the dates of the conference, during the academic summer vacations.
